TANNING TREND FORECAST

When it comes to fashion trends summer 2018 promises to be bold and unique, yet with a nod to the past. However, it’s not only about what we wear - it’s how we frame our fashion. Inspired by the catwalks and their designers, here’s a look at how your tan can complete your SS18 wardrobe with Fake Bake’s Tanning Trends.

THE GELATO - Fake Bake Fair

Spring is a time for slowly exposing skin that has been hibernating for those long winter months, and what better way to introduce your body back to summer than adorning it with ice-cream hues and sorbet shades.

Pastels continue to be a summer staple with Victoria Beckham leading the way with her much talked about lavender suit and Hermes with their vanilla tones, even the boys joined in with Versace choosing baby blue and pink as their go-to colours for this trend.

Pair this trend with a fresh sun-kissed tan, either by using a gradual tanner or light shade. Keep the face minimal but pay attention to arms and shins.

Product of Choice - Fake Bake Fair, £24.95

James Harknett’s Tanning Tip - Sweep one layer of Fake Bake Fair over freshly exfoliated skin, James recommends using Fake Bake’s Coconut Body Polish, £10. Then add a pea sized amount of the self-tan to your facial moisturiser for an even subtle glow.

TANSPARENCY - Coconut serum

Sheers are going to rule this summer, and what better way to compliment these see-through wardrobe essentials than with a golden shimmering tan.

From futuristic plastic skirts, coats and boots at Chanel and Balmain, to delicate tulles and chiffons at Christopher Kane and Emporio Armani, transparency dominated the SS18 catwalks. As the opacity of clothing decreases, it’s time to increase the opacity of your skin.

As you dare to bare, be a bit more adventurous with your tan and go for something a little darker. A deep golden colour will compliment those summer sheers.

Product of Choice – Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum , £29.95

James Harknett’s Tanning Tip - Applying Fake Bake’s Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum is a cinch due to its dark guide colour. Always start at your feet and work your way up to avoid any smudging when leaning over.

THE BRITNEY - Flawless

The early 2000’s are back, so dig out your denim and channel your inner Britney Spears. (Nothing says double denim more than her memorable appearance with Justin Timberlake at the American Music Awards in 2001).

Designers such as Tom Ford, Versus and Calvin Klein have revitalised this indigo classic, provid- ing it with a more tailored approach for 2018 and nothing goes better with dark denim than an even darker tan!

Product of Choice – Professional spray tan, from £25 or Fake Bake Flawless, £24.95 James Harknett’s Tanning Tip - Achieve Britney’s Flawless tan by having a professional spray tan, or layer your tan at home and apply over two consecutive days to build a deep bronze hue.
